TICH is highly regarded in its exceptional methods of programme delivery and research both linked to problem solving and community service. The academic experience at TICH is enriched by the latest in teaching techniques, mentorship and collaboration with diverse institutions that ensures jobs for TICH graduates.
The institution developed a unique Community College approach to address the challenge of cost of training considering the poverty situation of our communities. Community College approach is a model where training is delivered in the community with collaboration of the community.
Delivery of the courses links theory to practice. Under the framework of partnership – linking theory and practice, community college approach enables the trainee to apply their knowledge and skills by addressing real needs in the community and triggering positive change. The approach integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection thereby enriching the learning experience teaches civic responsibility and develops communities in the process.
The model works in partnership with other key stakeholder within the community. This could be organizations such as churches, village polytechnic, Medical Training Colleges among others. The main engagement of stakeholders in the community of partnership involves provision of training space and skilled instructors where available. The approach is yet another strategy for TICH to create employment opportunities for locals as they train their own.
