Who We Are
The Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH) in Africa is an international research and training Institution, established in 1998 and registered with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Lands under the Trust Act in the Republic of Kenya. TICH specializes in health systems capacity building, research and community development. The institute pools together a large body of researchers of diverse backgrounds drawn from 11 countries in Africa with vast experience.
TICH has successfully provided capacity building, research, service delivery and technical support to governmental and non-governmental health and development agencies in Africa over the last two decades. Over this period, TICH has engaged policy makers, key partners and health program implementers in addressing health inequities in a number of African countries through research projects that have been translated into health policies. Through partnership, TICH has active multi-country North-South and South-South initiatives aimed at strengthening health systems for Universal Health Care (UHC) and quality of care and currently working with 13 Counties (Trans-Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Nyamira, Kisii, Migori, Garissa, Mandera and Kajiado)in Kenya to strengthen their health systems’ in implementation of community health strategy (GoK, MOH 2007).
Our vision is to be a reputable international center of academic, technical, professional and research excellence making sustainable contribution to the reduction of ill-health and poverty, forming partnerships for equitable access to the essential elements of dignified livelihoods.
